REFLECTION : NATIONAL CONFERENCE IS DOOMED.............WHY I WASH MY HANDS OFF IT. As a strong advocate and proponent of the National Dialogue for years ; i had spoken and written about it both in the past and in recent times; i am afraid that from my perception of what was proposed to what is deployed and analysis, to include realistic assessment in context and content of the conference by design seems more of a process designed to FAIL than SUCCEED. Here are my reasons................. 1. That the proposed conference as declared would have NO GO AREAS and NO PEOPLES REFERENDUM is a NO ! NO ! Red Flag 2. That the list of delegates is simply reflecting a muddling of the good , bad and ugly ...more in similarity to the centenary award that saw a mixture of the good and the bad in the society. The politics is already in the composition and would sway the discussions 3. That the choosing of delegates ignored the heart of the grass-root ; those who mattered the most while sidelining minority ethnic groups in most part of the nation. 4. That the NASS seems to be waiting for the JOB / Homework to be carried out by those hand picked to be completed; then they simply COPY & PASTE the entire resolution but advising on the contrary of a referendum. 5. That it posits to be more of a peoples patronage dialogue than a committal national approach at resolving the nations quagmire 6. That number of presidential delegates within the total group may be designed to keep discussions in line with his dictates and the deliberate inclusion of the QUESTIONABLE delegates also points to the fact that TRUE VETTING was not carried out as they should not have been qualified...... 7. That those un-qualified delegates may just be booby - traps that would end up either compromising or stifling the process. 8. That the dialogue has been placed on the table of academic exercise rather than grass-root / professional engagement in arriving at a concrete resolution and road map for a NEW NIGERIA 9. That in fairness to most advocates of a National Dialogue; this process must be watched ; grilled and followed with sincerity of purpose, honesty and true patriotism. 10. That i will hold the benefit of doubt; considering that this seems to be the only viable and immediate resolution at returning the nation back to sanity and sanctity.......BUT must not be allowed to fail. If it fails to reach its expected goals.....it opens up the nation............ NB: This are my personal opinions based on my analysis and does not represent any interests. I will stay tuned to developments and hope the required corrections and amendments would be made ASAP.
