REGAN SET FOR FLYERS FIFE FLYERS’ new netminder Kevin Regan says less travelling was a big plus as he put pen to paper to join the Kirkcaldy club. The American goalie, who has played for Providence Bruins, the affiliate to NHL giants Boston Bruins, replaces Bryan Pitton, who was a fans’ favourite last season. Now Regan is looking ahead to locking horns with the other teams in Scotland when the season begins in the next couple of weeks. Regan said: “The lighter travel schedule from games made it an easy decision for me and my family to make. “I am excited to have the opportunity to play for a respected franchise and passionate fans and having so many other team close by helps too. “The EIHL seems to get more competitive every year and the conference system makes every game important. It looks like it will create a few more rivalries." Regan spent last season at Canadian side Wichita Thunder where he was a team-mate of Les Reaney, who was confirmed as joining Flyers’ rivals Edinburgh Capitals earlier in the week. But his pedigree was one that stood out for coach Todd Dutiaume and believes his experience will be a major asset for the team. Dutiaume said: "When he became available, it was clear we had to fill this spot on the team and done our research on Kevin. “We were really happy with what we heard and he ticks a whole lot of boxes. As well as being a nice guy, he has a wealth of experience which will be a great fit to our team.”
