REJECT PETITION TO RESCHEDULE DELIBERATION ON DAP The petition of Malacanang filed by the Office of the Solicitor General to reset the oral arguments on DAP should be rejected by the Supreme Court. Considering the ample time given by the high court for the respondents i.e. Executive Secretary Ochoa and DBM Secretary Abad, to answer the nine petitions assailing the constitutionality of DAP was originally scheduled last December 10, 2013. Any further delay on the deliberations should be avoided for this will generate suspicion, justly or wrongly, towards a less credible resolution of the landmark case. The basis for mistrust has been laid by the implied threat of impeachment by pro-administration legislators against opposing justices, and the alleged backroom negotiations of CJ Sereno and pro-administration justice/s to declare DAP as constitutional. The fate of our democratic institutions hang on this crucial test of judicial review and independence. Res Ipsa Loquitur.
