RELEVANCE The feelings could be so satisfying and absolutely - TopicsExpress

RELEVANCE The feelings could be so satisfying and absolutely fulfilling when you command relevance wherever you are or at what you do. When your contributions are so important and your roles so significant, the possibility of your indispensability is high. But we must all know that we are relevant only to the point where we remain the best at what we do. The moment someone who could do it better emerges, your place is no longer guaranteed and your position under threat! If the place you occupy is too important for you to lose, then the only way to secure it is to ensure you keep abreast and remain the best. For life has no prominent place for mediocre. When Queen Vashti openly undermined the authority of her husband, King Ahasuerus, and disparagingly turned down his request; while seeking the appropriate sanction against her, one of the closest officers of the King opined: “If it pleases the king, let a royal decree go out from him, and let it be recorded in the laws of the Persians and the Medes, so that it will not be altered, that Vashti shall come no more before King Ahasuerus; and let the king give her royal position to another who is better than she.” (Esther 1:19 NKJV). Just look at the word of the King’s man again: “…that Vashti shall come no more before the King…” Once someone become irrelevant, the first thing that would happen to him is to be dispensed: “come no more before the king…”. And automatically, whatever position the fellow occupies would be lost: “…let the king give her royal position to another…”. The truth about life is that, your position is just a reflection of your relevance, and you won’t be able to enhance your position without doing the same to your relevance. Thirdly, the position would be given “…to another who is better…”. That is another truth about life. You can only retain that position until better person surfaces, which is the reason we must always strive at improving every day. In life, gravitation and inclination will naturally always be towards the best, not the less; therefore, you can’t be anything less if you want to remain relevant. Therefore, we have to go all-out to continually be the best.
