REMEMBERING JEREMY A VIDEO TRIBUTE Fifteen years ago today, life was good. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that a phone call in the early morning hours of November 18 would change so many lives in such an impactful way. Having a child die is every parent’s worst nightmare. People often say that they can’t imagine what that would be like. No, we can’t, and I believe that is part of God’s design to protect us from living in fear. The grief in the beginning feels unbearable, it takes away every sense of normality, it suffocates, it clouds one’s mind and it is difficult to imagine ever feeling joy again. Fifteen years later, I miss Jeremy every day. I still grieve, but in a different way. I have learned to weave the loss and the missing into the everyday fabric of life. I grieve with hope because I know that I will be reunited with Jeremy someday. When people ask me how I survived such a horrible thing, I tell them that for me it was Faith, Family and Friends. My faith gave me hope and strength, my family and friends listened, encouraged and loved me. So many people have done amazing things to help to keep Jeremy’s memory alive and for a parent, that is vitally important. Thank you! So I ask that in memory of Jeremy, do something kind, give someone a big Jeremy smile or one of his massive bear hugs. Parents, tell you kids how much you love them. And kids, tell your parents how much you love them. Fifteen years later, mostly I smile when I think of Jeremy, but sometimes the tears flow. I treasure the 21 years of precious memories even though I wish there had been more. His life and death have taught me so many valuable life lessons. For that I am grateful. Fifteen years later and life is good and that is exactly what Jeremy would want! youtu.be/kAIi4aRjhpI
