REMINDER EVERYONE!!! Traffic Advisory: Culvert replacements require one-day closure of KY 57 in Fleming County Work and closure set for Saturday, June 29, 6-9 FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (June 28, 2013) – Two culvert replacements that are part of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s nearly $800,000 project to improve highway safety in Fleming County will require the temporary closure of KY 57 near Mount Carmel tomorrow, Saturday, June 29. The road will be closed only where contractors are working – between mile markers 5.5 and 6.5, which is between Mineer Road and Kilbreth Valley-Poplar Grove roads. Traffic can still use KY 57 up to the work site, but will not be able to continue beyond it. The closure will begin at 6 a.m. Saturday, June 29, and continue through 9 p.m. that night. Motorists coming from Flemingsburg or otherwise south of the work area, must seek an alternate route to reach the AA Highway. Motorists coming from Tollesboro or Mount Carmel, or otherwise north of Kilbreth Valley Road must detour to reach Flemingsburg. The Kentucky Department of Highways will place detour signs along KY 9 (AA Highway), KY 11 and KY 11X at Flemingsburg to mark the detour for through traffic and commercial vehicles. Local traffic may access destinations up to the point of closure at the work site, and may use KY 344 or other routes to reach destinations. The Transportation Cabinet project, funded through the federal Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP), was awarded to Philmor Contracting Inc. under a $796,377.95 contract. Work is expected to take place through August and includes highway shoulder and slope corrections, drainage and guardrail enhancements and pavement patching.
