REPAIR THESE ALTARS “And Elijah said unto all the people, Come near unto me. And all the people came near unto him. And he repaired the altar of the LORD that was broken down.” (1 Kings 18:30) Elijah was a true man of God. He saw how the prophets of Baal had desecrated the altar and broken it down. Now he wanted to call upon the Lord and ask for His favor. But before he could do that, he first repaired the altar that was pulled down. You too must be like Elijah. First, repair the altar of Quiet Time. Quiet Time is that part of the day that one sets aside for personal prayers and reading of the Bible. It is best if you do this early in the morning before you go to school or embark on any activity of the day. It may be as short as five minutes or long as 30 minutes. Do you do this at all? If you do, do you do it every day? Begin to observe your Quiet Time every day from today and you will be surprised how easy it will be for you to communicate with God. You must also repair the altar of personal evangelism. It has been broken down for long in the lives of many people and in many churches. Even though Jesus commanded that we do it, yet many don’t. Begin today to tell somebody about Jesus. You can give out a tract, share your personal experience of salvation (if you know you are saved) or simply surrender your own life to Jesus, if you have not experienced the new birth. That is a good way to repair the altars that are broken down around you. Challenge: Prayer should be the key of the day and the lock of the night—Fuller Prayer: Help me dear Father to spend this day usefully praying to You.
