REPORT from Srinagar Team-16 Sept 2014 We are nearing the end of Phase-1 of our rescue and relief operations in Kashmir. Today the team once again visited our people at various locations mentioned earlier in these reports.These people were handed over provisions,medicines and other essential requirements. Some essential points of todays report:- 1. By and large every community member residing outside Kashmir has left the Valley and returned to their homes. A handful of them still left at Srinagar are being evacuated at the earliest. 2. The local KP residents, numbering between 700-800, belonging to Indira Nagar, Shivpura, Habbakadal, Jawahar Nagar, Karan Nagar, Raj Bagh, etc. will continue to live under make shift arrangements, as their house have been severely damaged and most of their belongings destroyed.. 3. Essentially , there will be two major locations, namely, Zeshta Devi Mandir and Durga Naag, where they will be put up. Arrangements will have to be made for their sustenance and eventual rehabilitation. As far as Habbakadal residents are concerned, it is understood that they are feeling reluctant to go back due to unfriendly environment existing there at present. Action Plan We will now have to work out long term requirements of the residents in terms of warm clothing , medicines, living accommodation, provisions, etc. Team Srinagar is leaving the valley tomorrow to carry out consultations, review and formulation of further long-term action plan and work out modalities for its implementation. AIKS would like to express its grateful thanks to all those who supported us in this effort all through.Since the work is not yet over, we would like to solicit every ones cooperation to help us in extending to our brethren in Kashmir with whatever assistance is possible.
