REQUEST FOR HELP- EMAIL THE POLISH CHILDRENS OMBUDSMAN In Poland, according to official statistics 20% of the 60,000 children in „care” have been removed from families due to poverty. That is a court has declared that the family was too poor to maintain the child, as a result the child was placed into care. I have written to the Childrens Ombudsman with the question: „What has the Office of the Childrens Ombudsman done to stop the official policy of taking children away from families due to no other reason than poverty. What is the position of the Office of the Childrens Ombudsman on this policy?” ****** Could I simply ask all of you to COPY AND PASTE email this question to the Office of the Childrens Ombudsman in your native language – as this will help show international attention is being brought to this issue. His email is:[email protected] Such a policy I am sure you will agree is disgusting. It costs the equivalent of 1100 USD per month to keep a child in care in Poland, while the government pays „child benefit” to the equivalent of 28 USD per month. Thus the govt policy of removing children from poor families makes no sense finanically and is only used to punish the extremely poor in our society. Thank you for your help!
