RESERVES FOOTY “The Baker kicked a Dozen” We hosted Katunga at the Bear Pit today without usual coach Simon McGuire who was resting up this week in readiness for the finals in a few weeks. Assistant Jason “Slugger” Thomson took over the coaching reigns and was keen to show his wares coaching a senior side, after doing a brilliant job for the Under 14 side this year. Our onballers were up against bigger opponents, but our boys stuck to the game plan and after a slowish start we just got better and better as the game went on. The local baker Will Kirchen led from the front up forward and clutched some great marks, and showed plenty of class kicking a great bag of 12 goals for the game, including 10 in the second half, putting him in elite history. Josh Buerckner and Joel Whinray got plenty of the footy, playing their usual consistent games, and Matt Powell had a good game, snagging 3 majors for the game. Brett Harvey showed poise and used the footy well, looking for runners going past, including Dylan Chung who turned it on a few times with his blistering pace. The backline held up well and was led by Josh Pettit, Chris Laity, Justin Saunders and Tyler Walshe who was playing his first game for about 3 months after a serious knee injury earlier in the year playing senior footy at Katty. A very solid performance by the boys who were victorious 20.10.130 to 3.1.19. Votes: 3 Will Kirchen, 2 Joel Whinray, 1 Brett Harvey. Awards: Vodusek Meats – Josh Pettit, Terminus Hotel – Matt Powell, Cellarbrations – Will Kirchen, Ricky D’s Pizza – Joel Whinray, Crusty Loaf Bakery – Josh Buerckner, Tungamah Hotel – Brett Harvey
