RESOLUTION # 9- I think this is an important one!!! Whereas, Technology has advanced to the point where photographic images of an animal’s conformation can be significantly altered , and Whereas, Consumers rely heavily of photographic images to make breeding and purchasingdecisions, and Whereas, ETHICS 103 in the AHA Code of Ethics and Sportsmanship (EPRB) chapter states: 1. In every situation, the welfare of the breed shall be paramount over all considerations. The best interests of the Arabian horse must be the criterion in all transactions... 5. Members and their employees or agents should be fair and honest in all transactions involving horses and should not make any false or misleading statements concerning horses offered for sale or breeding, and Whereas, Decisions regarding breeding or purchase, when based on altered photographs may result in passing on undesirable conformational traits, which are by their very nature, detrimental to the Arabian and Half-Arabian breed, and Whereas, Altering the conformation of a horse in a photographic ad without proper notification that conformation has been altered is misleading; Therefore, Be ItResolved, That the following be added to AHA ETHICS Rules of Conduct ; 22.Members, their employees, and their agents shall not use a photograph in which an animal’s conformation has been altered in any advertisements of an animal to be shown, used for breeding, or that is for sale without notification on said photograph that the animal’s conformation has been altered.
