RESPONDING TO NON-MUSLIMS: DO NOT BLAME THEM, TEACH THEM When you are asked what religion you are in? Or they mock at you; saying you are following a religion made by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Do not feel bad…the person was misled by the information he or she has received about the religion. Simply informed the person that their scripture say people perish because of lack of knowledge…then, bring to their notice what Quran Chapter 2 verse 135 says. It reads, ‘’ And they say, ‘Be Jews or Christians, then you will be saved’. Say (to them O Muhammad), Nay, (we follow) only the religion of Abraham; Hanif, and he was not of Al-mushrikun. Hanif means the worship of none but God alone. Al-mushrikun means those who worship others along with God. Abraham was neither a Jew nor a Christian. No Messenger of God Almighty, including Jesus Christ (PBUH), said, ‘’worship me along with God or I am God, worship me’’. The mistakes came from men. For instance, see Quran 5:75…’’ the Messiah, son of Mary, was no more than a Messenger, many were the Messengers that passed away before him. His mother was a Siddiqah (i.e. she believed in the Words of Allah and His Books). They both used to eat food. Look how they are deluded away (from the truth). Here, God is telling us that Jesus and his mother ate food and Allah does not eat. Both of them must answer the call of Nature by going to the toilet—God said the sign is clear for us to see that they are not gods. Yet, people took Jesus Christ and the mother for gods. Neither Jesus nor the mother said we should take them for gods. This conflict came from men who wrote things down for us and telling us they came from God. We also have those who claimed various visions. Please leave those people and follow God and His Messengers only.
