REST IN POWER - GENERAL BAKER We have learned that this morning, General Baker, who founded the legendary League of Revolutionary Black Workers, Dodge Revolutionary Union Movement (DRUM), and was among the first (if not the first) American to refuse induction to fight in Vietnam, has transitioned from this life. General Baker and the original DRUM (Dodge Revolutionary Union Movement) were the inspiration for the name and orientation of DRUM when it was founded. As a newer immigrant community with sharply forming class division, it was a conscious decision to draw and build upon the legacy of the struggles of workers and poor people here in the United States. DRUM members had the honor of meeting him and many of the original DRUM members at the Detroit USSF. He had tears in his eyes when he learned that a young South Asian organization has been inspired by and named itself after the original DRUM. We invited General Baker as the keynote speaker at DRUM 12th Anniversary Gala, but he was unable to attend due to his health, and was represented by Brother Waistline. We will work to continue his legacy forward with a commitment to build the power of the working class for justice here and across the world. Wishing peace, strength, and solidarity to his families and communities. GENERAL BAKER PRESENTE!!!
