RIDGEFIELD MANS MISSING DOG LOCATED. News Release from Clark Co. Sheriffs Office Posted on: December 8th, 2014 12:51 AM A Columbian article printed on December 6th renewed interest in a missing Dachshund puppy belonging to Gary Brill Jr. The puppy named Annie had been missing since November 28th when she jumped from a van while Gary was visiting friends. Annie left her littermate Danny behind when she went on her adventure. Annie and Danny were given to Gary by a friend after he was forced to put down his prior nine year companion, Buddy, a black Newfoundland Lab mix. A sharp eyed Clark County Sheriffs Office Deputy named Jeremy Koch spotted an incoming 911 call report on his patrol cars computer December 7th. He connected the call to the article about Gary and his canine companions. Gary was calling 911 to report information related to a Facebook posting he believed was Annie. Deputy Koch was able contact the Facebook poster, Lyndsay Pettit, the daughter of Ridgefield Police Officer, Jeff Pettit. Annie was a little worse for wear when she wandered up to Lyndsay. She was malnourished and had a bad case of fleas. Lyndsay already had two dogs of her own and after checking with local animal shelters, posted a picture of Annie on Facebook looking for a foster family. Annies adventure continued as she was given to a kindly couple in Rainier, Washington. Lyndsay still had the contact information for the Rainier family and gave it to Deputy Koch. Deputy Koch contacted the kindly couple and made arrangements to meet them, and Annie, in Longview. Before he left to get Annie, Deputy Koch needed to tell Gary in person that Annie had been found. Deputy Koch said Gary was so ecstatic that he actually began weeping for joy. He insisted that Deputy Koch give the $200 reward money to the family that had taken care of Annie. Deputy Koch travelled to Longview where he met the kindly Rainier couple at the local Starbucks. He gave them the $200 reward money and they promptly gave him $100 back. They told Deputy Koch they had taken Annie to the vet, had her wormed, and helped her with her flea problem. They gave him the vet paperwork along with a new rabies tag. They told Deputy Koch to tell Gary the $100 was to get Annie chipped. The now tearful couple handed over Annie in her brand new sweater. They were going to miss Annie, but they were happy she was going home. Deputy Koch said Annie was rather subdued on the trip home. She sat in the passenger seat probably wondering where her next adventure was taking her. Deputy Koch said as they neared Garys home, Annie caught the scent of something familiar. She jumped up on the window sill of the patrol car and began to furiously wag her tail. After they pulled in the driveway, Deputy Koch carried the wriggling Annie to the front door and reunited her with Gary, who was now practically delirious, and with her brother Danny who was pretty excited too. Gary was deeply grateful to Deputy Koch and promised to use the money to get Annie chipped. And thats how Annie made it home for Christmas.
