RIGHT TO FARM OR RIGHT TO HARM. OK, Ive heard a lot of both sides. Correct, there is no actual wording that states anything about corporations or Monsanto, but you must know that the wording doesnt say small farmers or local businesses either, it just leaves it wide open for interpretation, and that is why it is bad, because it WILL end up being exploited by corporations. If you say that isnt true, then you are deluding yourself. Most corporations will take advantage of anything that can be taken advantage of, and the bigger they are (with the more money backing them), the more likely that are to do so. To put it differently, if similar legislation was up, but you replaced farms with breweries, then absolutely Budweiser would exploit everything about it they could, and if it resulted in stepping on the toes of the 49 microbreweries in Missouri, they would do it, and those microbreweries would have no true recourse because they dont collectively have the financial backing to protect themselves. Finally, there is NO reason to pass this law. We already have the right to farm. Why do we need more government regulation to stop government regulation? It makes no sense. If the true goal is to protect small farms, then it should be worded that way, ergo, vote no, and let them present better worded legislation.
