RIP Chazan Dovid Werdyger (the David of Mordechai ben David). When he was getting started in music, MBD used ben David instead of Werdyger because he didnt want to ride on his fathers coattails. Chazan Werdyger revolutionized Hasidic music from a performance and production perspective. And he was MBDs father. I believe my Uncle Michael Greenwald sang in the childrens choir on one of Werdygers albums. Without the music, his life story was inspirational. But he did the music too! This song is probably his most well known contribution to the Jewish music. He did not compose the song, but he made it famous.
