Name of Victim Released in Denton Fatal Fire Oct 24, 2014 05:56 AM DENTON, Md. – The identity of the person who died after an early morning house fire on Friday has been released. The Maryland State Fire Marshals Office says the home was occupied by Norma Towers, 87, and a caretaker Laura Johnson, 56. Officials say Towers was taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital and pronounced dead. The Delaware Office of the Medical Examiner says her death was caused by blunt force trauma as result of a blast. Johnson was transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma for treatment and subsequently released. A neighbor reported the fire at 4:14 a.m. It happened in the 9000 block of Andersontown Rd. Fire officials say 60 firefighters were on scene. It took 45 minutes to get the fire under control. Damages to the two story home are estimated at $200,000. At this time the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
