RKO made the best Film Noirs. I just finished watching Narrow Margin, from 1952. Charles McGraw (who normally played character parts) is the main protagonist--a cop escorting a gangsters widow from Chicago to L.A. so she can testify. The movie makes great use of its setting on a train, giving the story a claustrophobic feel as McGraw tries to stay one step ahead of some hitmen. Theres also several wonderful plot twists involving the actual identities of several other characters on the train.
