ROBBERY - TROON Detectives in Ayr are continuing enquiries after an elderly woman was robbed in Troon on Monday 1 September 2014. Around 2000 hrs, a man approached the home of the elderly woman in South Beach, Troon threatening her and demanding she hand over money. The man then stole a quantity of cash (three-figure sum) and several items of jewellery before making off. The 82 year-old victim was uninjured and has been left extremely distressed. She is also upset at the theft of her jewellery as many items are family heirlooms which, to her are invaluable and irreplaceable. The suspect is described as white; around 6 ft 2 inches in height, with cropped, short dark hair and a stocky build. He has blue eyes, was clean shaven and spoke with a local accent. He was wearing a turquoise, crew-neck t-shirt, with flashes of red and white, light blue track suit trousers and white trainers. Detectives are in the process of carrying out door-to-door enquiries and gathering CCTV for review in the hope that it provides further detail on the suspect. Detective Inspector Stevie Wallace, who is heading up the investigation, said: “We are in the process of reviewing CCTV images and we are determined to trace the man responsible for this crime. Anyone who preys on our elderly members of the community is a coward. Many of the items stolen were gifts from family members and the victim is desolate at their theft – to her they are irreplaceable and she is anxious for their return.
