ROBERT LEE DALTON (Nov 01, 2013) ROBERT LEE DALTON, 73, of Proctorville, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2013. He was born on February 24, 1940, the son of the late Leamon W. Dalton and Mildred Beckett Dalton and brother of the late Billy Mack Dalton. After attending Harding University, he graduated from the University of Cincinnati School of Architecture. His architectural firm, Robert L. Dalton Architects, was located in Chesapeake, Ohio, and he was a member of the American Institute of Architects. Mr. Dalton was the architect of many Tri-State area buildings. He was a member and elder of the Rome Church of Christ. Mr. Dalton was a past board president of Midwestern Childrens Home. He was also the past president of the Greater Lawrence County Area Chamber of Commerce, and served on the boards of many other area non-profit organizations. He also served on the regional board of US Bank, and was an instrumental lobbyist for the funding of the Chesapeake Bypass in Lawrence County, Ohio through his work with the Chamber of Commerce Transportation Committee. In March of 2011, a bridge on the Proctorville section of that bypass was named for Mr. Dalton. Saturday, March 19, 2011, was proclaimed Robert Dalton day in Lawrence County Ohio as a celebration of his many contributions to the county. Mr. Dalton is survived by his wife Joyce Ann Edwards Dalton, his son Grant Beckett Dalton (Jennifer Jones Dalton) of Birmingham, Alabama and a daughter Anna Beth Dalton Lewis (Christopher Lewis) of Dublin, Ohio. He had five grandchildren, Claire and Dalton Lewis, and Beckett, Spencer and Annika Dalton. A memorial service will be conducted by Minister Brad Poe at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 2, at the Rome Church of Christ in Proctorville, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Midwestern Childrens Home, Box 48, Pleasant Plain, OH 45162. Hall Funeral Home Proctorville, Ohio is in charge of arrangements.
