ROOT CAUSE OF CURRENT INSECURITY IN KENYA What we are - TopicsExpress

ROOT CAUSE OF CURRENT INSECURITY IN KENYA What we are witnessing in Kenya currently is the matured fruit of what was planted in the security agencies during the dictatorial rule of Kanu and the complacency of the Kibaki regime. Thousands upon thousands of soldiers and policemen of all shades were unceremoniously sacked for all sorts of minor mistakes both real and imagined. Any assumed lack of total and blind obedience to the commanders was met with instant dismissal without benefits. Between 2002 and 2013, it is likely that one third of the entire military population was sacked. From surgeons, ace pilots to poor infantry soldiers none was out of the cross hairs. It is possible that all these bitter minds, some which unfortunately happen to be the best there is, are deliberately fighting what they consider as softies who joined the forces not because they were qualified or even needed the job in the first place, but because they are relatives, friends or attached in one way or another to the bosses who call the shots. They may not be doing it for political gain or to overthrow the government, but as a frustrated and misguided way of calling for help. Look at the recent police recruitment fiasco. Luckily, someone somewhere is listening to the advice of the intelligence services. That is why there is talk of bringing all these sorry victims into the fold through activation of reserves and the like. There are possibly more, equally or even better trained and more professional policemen (from all branches) and soldiers out there than there are in the active service. This is a naked truth. The money bags are busy becoming money sacks to give a hoot. What they don’t understand is that Kenya is slowly imploding.
