ROTTERDAM — Another anchor at Rotterdam Square will soon be closed. Macys will close in early spring along with 13 other Macys across the nation, including a store at ShoppingTown Mall near Syracuse, the company said in a news release. The Rotterdam store employees 98 people, according to Macys. The store, which occupies 120,000 square feet in the mall, opened in 1995. Final clearance sales will begin Monday and run for eight to 12 weeks, the company said. The closure is part of a “series of initiatives to evolve its business model and invest in continued growth opportunities as consumers change the way they shop,” the company said. The announcement marks the second anchor to have closed since developer Kohan Retail Investment Group purchased the mall in January. TJ Maxx closed in March.
