ROUND 9 REPORT - Nagambie Vs Rushworth We travelled across the Ironbark stadium yesterday for an excellent return on the win / loss register, all but our reserves and A grade recorded excellent victories which was a great way to set up a big clash this week against Murchison. In the under 18’s the coach FOF (Father of Frank) Fothergill was rocking early with his lads getting off to a great start having a lapse mid game and then holding on to a solid lead. Well done to FOF and his team of helpers, better players were Mitch Burt, SOB (son off Brett) Fothergill, Connor Lines, Bo Kelly, Riley Bazeley, Tim Wall and Rory Oliver. In the reserves it was a case have boots, two arms and two legs and you have a game, we were scraping the barrel with the long weekend taking players away and a few injuries. Up till half time right in the game and then when Harley had to leave for senior preparations our avenues to goals dried up and we were beaten by 7 goals in the wash up. Better players were James Forbes, Bo Kelly, Mitch Burt, Rory Oliver, Bobby Lang, Brian Yeomans and Harley. At senior level the game was on from the start and after banging on the first 4 goals the boys tuned right up and recorded a massive 106 point victory. As has been alluded to by coach Lincoln we are building momentum slowly and quietly making our way into the top bracket of teams. A couple of injuries with Brian Morris tweaking his string and Linc not wearing a rear vision mirror backing into a pack and hurting his ribs. Apart from that an excellent win in preparation for next week’s big game. Better players were Compass Haysom, Grant Connors, Josh Comi (and he has not been home since), Mitch Sanderson who is still struggling with the sausages and how to attack them and Stalkly Muir. In the netball we had an up and down day with our juniors and C & B Grades winning and A grade going down. The A grade girls get a few back this week and so will be back on the winners this week for sure. This week we have the Ball and tickets have been selling well and so come along with your mask if you want for a night full of good music, hearty food and lots of good stories to share. On the topic of stories he has been off the scene for a bit now but the Sullivan wagon has leapt back into town in a big way over the long weekend, he was spotted streaking down Blaney Lane at 3.30am screaming something about not knowing the light didn’t work……..he had icicles hanging off him everywhere. Remember ball is a big one so get your kit out and join in the festivities. A small footnote, allegedly Fingers Nolan had a bout of food poisoning late on Sunday night and fertilised a few gardens on his walk home, closely followed by the man of the moment Sullivan who creamed all the social media awards with another flawless display of bad manners and tuning up.
