ROUND TEN WRAP UP, MATCH REPORTS, AND PHOTOS What day of Rugby League! After some frequent heavy rains over the last couple of weeks, the two grounds at Casey were suffering from exessive dampness. About 10 minutes into the first games, the grounds were sufferening from exessive mud. It didnt affect the enthusiasm of the teams and we saw some great matches. Thank you to the Melton Broncos for making the long trip across town for the first time and to the Sunbury Tigers for also travelling so far. Thank you to all the volunteers and parents from Casey Warriors who came out to support our teams. Sorry about the lateness of this weekend wrap up. I was hoping to have all the photos edited and posted before I posted the wrap up but I unfortunately laptop issues didnt allow me to finish them. Photos from 1st Div and Girls Tag have been posted already but there are quite a few photos of other teams which are yet to be edited and put up. They will be up at some stage... Thanks again to the coaches and managers who have submitted the following match reports for their teams. MATCH REPORTS: -------------- UNDER 6 Under 6s had a tough game on Saturday taking on Sunbury. With the condition of the fields how they were, made it a very hard for the players to play to their potential. The boys ended up drawing their game making it 2 draws against Sunbury. The final score was 24 all. Try scorers were Jaric, Joshua, Isaiah and Mikaere. - Alicia, Manager UNDER 7 Black Under7s black good game boys well done player of the day Tylah they played so well this week come out with a big win 24/16 and thank u to tylahs dad for stepping up and helping out for the day !!!!! - Moana, Manager. UNDER 8 RED Another fantastic effort by the team today!!! We came against Melton Bronco’s for the first game of the day on the top field, one half grassy and the other muddy. We know one player that was pretty happy to be able to have the chance of playing in the mud!!! It didn’t take long for us to hit our stride and the structure and team work this team plays with is one we enjoy watching from the sidelines. Even though the score was a blow out being 48 – 0, Melton played well with a number of attacking runs and great tackles. But the defence our team showed as well as some great attack saw us come away with a comfortable victory. Nathan crossing the line five times, his ability to change direction on a step had us all amazed. Jerome, Haze and Denina crossed for a double each, running with strength and skirting the edges, whilst Campbell received the ball after a quick play of the ball to cut across the defensive line towards the corner to score as well. Campbell joined with Ryan were quick off the defensive line shutting down the opportunities of the Bronco’s. Achievement awards went to Denina, for his strong running and tackling and Blake for his willingness to get in and get dirty, tackling and hitting up with gusto. - Trent, Coach UNDER 8 BLACK After an early morning call I had the pleasure of coaching the U8’s Black team after Brett injured his arm the night before. Hope your arm heals well bloke!!! We took on a very well drilled team in Sunbury Tigers, who have been playing together for 3 years and it showed with the performance they put on to go home with a victory. It was not all one way traffic, with the defensive pressure we applied produced many errors. Caleb and Cassius were stand outs using perfect tackling technique to cut many ball runners down. It was a credit to the players who were made to play unfamiliar roles take on the opportunity and shine. Denzel made a great weaving run to score in the corner. It was his relentless efforts in attack and defence that saw him come away with this week’s achievement award. - Trent, Honarary Coach UNDER 16 Casey Warriors U16 took on the Sunbury Tigers on our home grounds. The winter weather surly had the boys a little worried being so wet with mud puddles all over the field but that didnt stop them from playing their best. Both teams played a great game despite being covered in mud. Our defense line held their ground and wouldnt let anyone through, the forwards set up great plays which led the rest of the team to pull together and come out with a win 14 - 4. All in all awesome game played by everyone and we hope for the best for Sunbury along with the other clubs for the remainder of the season. - Alyshia, Manager
