ROUND THREE BEGINS THE Swan and Helena District Cricket Association’s A grade season 2014/15, Round Three begins this Saturday the 8th of November with some very interesting games. Swanview travel to Cross Park to play Roleystone/Karragullen, who have to win, after losing their first two games. A good game but Roleystone at home should get the points. Forrestfield are at home to Helena Valley and they also need to turn around their results, or making finals for this season, will become harder. Helena Valley are playing well and should continue on their winning way. Lesmurdie/ Mazenod host Ellenbrook Rangers and just how much improvement Ellenbrook has made will be tested here, as they play the first of the serious finals contenders this year. Lesmurdie should rebound from their loss last week, to grab the points. Middle Swan host Darlington Competitive and will find it hard, especially against the confidence, Darlington should have, after defeating last year’s premiers, last game. DARLINGTON IN UPSET WIN OVER ROLEYSTONE/KARRAGULLEN Darlington Competitive pulled of an upset win over Roleystone/Karragullen when they made 218 in reply to Roleystone’s first innings of 83. Darlington’s Phil Shaw top scored with 68 runs, Andy Shaw hit 36, Shane Major scored 34 runs and Trent Stuart took 4-58. Roleystone batted a second time and were 5-71 at time, Damian Berryman snapped up 4-12. SWANVIEW DEFEAT LESMURDIE/MAZENOD At Ray Owen last week Swanview batted on into the second week and were all out for 269. Mathew Parnham was the best of the Swanview batsmen making 82, while for Lesmurdie Jim Outten took 3-53 and Paul Richardson picked up 3-32. Swanview dismissed Lesmurdie for 117 and tailenders Josh McGlynn and Ben Kerr made 31 and 32 not out. ELLENBROOK DEFEAT FORRESTFIELD Ellenbrook Rangers made it two wins from two games this season by defeating Forrestfield at Coolamon Oval. Batting into the second week Ellenbrook reached 9-211. Mathew Legge scored 38, while Alex Snadden claimed 5-58 and Glen Foster 3-62. Scott Witschge as the stand out batsman from Forrestfield in their innings of 137, hitting 47 runs while Rylan Cannell took 4-26. HELENA VALLEY HAVE OUTRIGHT WIN OVER MIDDLE SWAN Helena Valley defeated Middle Swan, outright by an innings when they made 214 in reply to Middle Swan’s first innings of 101and then dismissed Middle Swan for and 78 in their second innings. Sean Cohen made the top score of 55, Adam Johnson hit 40 runs and Trent Wilson weighed in with 30, while Brendan Susanna was the pick of the Middle Swan bowlers, picking up 4-35. In B grade, a very special and rare moment in any grade of Cricket, Chris Thomas, a Mundaring stalwart, in cricket and football, took 10 wickets for 5 runs. He also took one wicket in the second innings before he had to leave early but Helena Valley, who were routed for 34 in the first innings and were asked to follow on, avoided the outright defeat by reaching 9-238 at stumps. Both are 17 years old.
