RS. 35 MILLION ALLOCATED FOR CULTURAL ACTIVITIES IN KP, SAYS SECRETARY CULTURE The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Secretary Information and Culture Azmat Hanif Orakzai has disclosed that the provincial government has allocated a big amount of Rs. 35 million in the next year budget for carrying out different cultural activities in province and to assist the deserving people in the cultural field. This he said in a clarification of a news item published from the Cultural Journalists Forum in different newspapers. He further disclosed that in the next year Rs. 20 million had been earmarked in the Film Finance Funds from which documentary and welfare films would be prepared by the Directorate of Culture in a private partnership. Moreover, he said Rs. 5 million had also been put in the endowment fund from which the poor and ailing people relating to the cultural field would be provided assistance on permanent basis. The secretary culture said in the next year ADP Rs. 10 million had been allocated for development and preservation of Kalash Culture. He said the same fund would be spent on different projects and cultural activities in Kalash valley within the next two years. Referring to the new cultural policy the secretary culture stated that during the care taker government a new cultural policy was finalized for the Khyber Pakhtubkhwa and for this purpose services of a consultant were also been obtained. He said two three sessions of discussions were also held with scholars, researchers and intelligentsia of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in which the draft policy was finalized. He said the same cultural policy would be sent to the chief minister for approval after consultation with the new minister for culture.
