RSALOC denies roadblock on Murkongselek-Pasighat BG Railway Project EAST SIANG, SEPT 21st The news item with caption “ Murkongselek-Pasighat BG Railway faces/hit roadblock ” appeared in one of the local dailies ‘The Arunachal Times’ as well as in regional newspaper ‘The Assam Tribune’ in their respective edition of Sept.15th , 2014 was totally a false and fabricated report. Flabbergasted to the news item, the Railway Survey Affected Land Owners Committee (RSALOC), Ruksin had to carry out investigations and inquiries if there was any roadblock by local people or any Affected Land Owners in between Murkongselek and Pasighat during the last couple of days. Accordingly, it was confirmed that there was no any report of such untoward incidents so far. The RSALOC, therefore, would like to appeal that the concerned authorities and people from all walks of life should not have a wrong impression from the said news item which is concocted, whimsical and an illogical idea of the concerned Reporter. The RSALOC has also expressed views that too much yellow journalism should be avoided by press and media fraternity for the well being and healthy growth of the society. The RSALOC, spearheading the Murkongselek-Pasighat BG Railway Project issue since 2012 never opposed the Railway connectivity to Pasighat, the century old town of Arunachal Pradesh, but it only opposed the survey/alignment done during 2011-12 and demands that the project should be executed as per survey/alignment of either 1968 or 1974 as carried out by the NF Railway during those years. The RSALOC had a series of public meetings during the last two years and submitted every Resolutions/Decisions to Deputy Commissioner, District East Siang, NF Railways and other authorities for acceptance and implementation. However, there have been no any positive response & outcome but the Project has been delayed for about two years due to strong resistance by the RSALOC creating a wave throughout and let the project gain impetus which is one of the “National Projects” with strategic importance. The District Administration, East Siang Distt. along with NF Railway Officials have cleared the Cadastral Survey of the 24.5 Kms. Long BG Railway Line during March-April 2014 which enters by crossing NH 52 and terminated at its last stoppage at 2-Mile,Pasighat. Considering the national importance of the project, the RSALOC now supports for further implementation of the project but subject to fulfillment of certain terms and conditions which have been duly endorsed to Deputy Commissioner, District East Siang, NF Railway and other concerned authorities. Of late, it was learnt that the larger organization like Adi Baane Kebang (ABK) and recently formed Affected Land Owners Committee of people of greater Pasighat are also coming into picture over the Murkongselek-Pasighat BG Railway Project issue. Better and positive decisions on the issue by ABK and Affected Land Owners Committee of People of greater Pasighat shall be supported by the RSALOC.
