RSOE EDIS Event Report - More than half a million people have evacuated as Typhoon Hagupit landed in the Philippines on Saturday evening, directly hitting the central island of Samar which was also affected by last years super typhoon Haiyan. The government weather agency said Hagupit, known in the Philippines as Ruby, first made landfall at Dolores town in Eastern Samar province at 9:15 p.m., packing winds of 175 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 210 kph. On Samar island, around 310,000 people from four provinces have fled to evacuation centers, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said. ...
