RULE OF LAW SMS;my defence. Interestingly, some people must drag my name into their politics. Without attacking my person, some people’s politics can never be complete; indeed a python seeking assurance of old age measures itself with the palm tree. I honestly enjoy this attention. It reinforces my native title: Ichie Ofu ji ana eme offload (ask your Igbo friend to interpret) I am also the young cub that puts a herd of buffalos to stampede. I just received an SMS from a faceless group calling itself Rule Of Law. As a veteran(from the reach of this SMS I know the NBA list used) I know who authored and paid for the SMS but since they he is a coward and could not sign it, let me address the issues raised. 1.I ported from Unity Bar because I believe that Unity Bar under U.M.Yamah is not my ideal Bar. Yamah’s exco despite repeated letters by me to it during my travails with CAC, failed to act. I had also written a letter to Yaham complaining about the dilapidated chairs in Magistrate Court Complex Wuse Zone two. These letters were received and acknowledged by Williams the Unity Bar Admin officer but due to incompetence, U.M.Yamah did not reply or act on the information supplied. I had to port to Bwari Bar(Capital Bar) because I believe that the duty of NBA is to take care of welfare of its members and snice I was not getting that under Yamah’s leadership, why should I still be in Unity Bar? Some leprous fingers in Unity Bar, not being satisfied that I have abandoned the sunk ship, still followed me to Bwari Bar. Some of them (out of respect, their names are withheld but I have their pictures) on July 26, after Bwari Bar had conducted a peaceful election,, came to hijack the election. I resisted and they reacted and used their influence at the National Secretariat to impose Sole Administrator for Bwari Bar. To rob salt over fresh injury, the same Sole Administrator is the Chairman of Unity Bar Electoral Committee. I became worried when the Unity Bar Electoral Committee imposed N100,000(One Hundred Thousand Naira) as nomination fee. I didn’t want their Electoral Committee Chairman to spread this nomination fee Ebola to our Branch so I got involved to raise consciousness that high nomination fee should be reduced. Aspirants said that Yamah promised them a reduction but nothing happened. 2. Rule of Law, claimed that I am a bribe seeker. As you know this is imputation of crime against me. So I challenge these lepers to send SMS and sign it so that I can sue the bastards but will they? To assist them, I hereby plead my account number so that they can pay in the bribe and have teller to show. African Continental Bank(ACB) Account number 197305419. 3. My interest in Unity Bar took the shape of an erection at the presence of a willing toto when Lawrence Erewele sometime in July met me and some members of Bwari Bar at Countryside Hotel Kubwa. We were minding our branch business and he came in, insisting that he is the Secretary of Unity Bar in waiting. I told him not to bring Unity Bar politics to Bwari Bar, but like a man destined for death, he refused to hear the words of the elders. The question remains, what gave Lawrence Erewele the incumbent Assistant Secretary the assurance that he is the anointed Secretary of Unity Bar? Why should he throw it in our faces at Bwari Bar? It is obvious that this Exco wanted to test the waters of Article 6(iii) of the 2006 Unity Bar Bye Laws. Has Erewele done 2 years in office to qualify to be the Secretary? 4.My interest got heightened when after participating in the proposed amendment of 2006 Unity Bar Bye Laws, some people played politics and frustrated the smooth passage of the proposed amendment. It is clear now that the proposal was frustrated because this Exco wanted to make space for some people. In that proposal, we had suggested that the qualification for the office of Vice Chairman should be same with that of Chairman i’e-the aspirant must be in private practice. But since Betty Umuegbulam the incumbent Treasurer-co signatory to Unity Bar account with Yamah, is employed by FCDA, the amendment was frustrated. We also proposed that the age qualification for PRO be increased but since they had a horizontal challenged errand boy they wanted to impose as PRO, they prevented the passage of the proposed amendments to the 2006 Unity Bar Bye Laws. Since I am a half honest man, and my father’s spirit lives in me, I had to port from Unity Bar where the leadership under Yamah finds it difficult to do the right thing. Throughout two years, the Vice under Yamah never chaired a meeting, instead, if Yamah is out of FCT, meeting will not hold. With all molecules of pride, I state that OPERATION SWEEP and BAR WATCH are my platforms and their contents are independently mine. I am also proud of other bulk SMS platforms asking questions particularly for accountability from leaders. These bulk SMS platforms show that my struggle for good governance has fallen into good ground and some people have bought into the struggle. This is true leadership, ability to mentor others with your integrity and commitment to the right part. I urge all those sending bulk SMS to continue and ask questions. Our democracy and holding our leaders accountable will crumble if we do not ask questions even at the risk of being a nuisance.
