RUSHMOOR BOROUGH COUNCIL ELECTION ON MAY 22 Many people feel that they can no longer vote conscientiously for the major political parties with the result that they feel marginalised and disenfranchised. With the Christian Party on the ballot paper they are able to vote for a politician who will be able to speak up for issues and implement policies which are consistent with our traditional Christian values and of importance to the people. One more time the Christian Party is standing on election day with a candidate who is committed to serving her constituents and at the same time proclaiming the Lordship of Jesus Christ over our nation. Mrs. Juliana Brimicombe will be standing for the Christian Party in the Rushmoor Borough Council elections on May 22 on three main issues which she feels are of particular importance to Rushmoor. Local Business We believe more should be done to create an environment to encourage business growth in Rushmoor: - Keep leases fair and affordable and renew leases to ensure business survival - Replace business rates with a local corporate tax based on profits rather than on location and space - VAT of 20% once a business turns over £81,000 acts as a disincentive to small business activity. VAT should be on a graded system starting at 5% on business over £100,000. Community Services Community services should be protected such as the day centre which has been recently closed down. Creative solutions should be explored to ensure survival of these vital community assets. Social Care We want to see extended care time for home care. Thirty minute slots are not adequate to serve our vulnerable and needy. Carers who are caring for their relatives should be provided formal training in moving and handling. Carers UK have demonstrated a saving to the UK economy of £15,000 per carer per annum. As well as these key issues, she draws attention to the fact that there are those in this area whose first language is not English and including them in our community is vital for all concerned. She says The home of the British army is on our doorstep. Army personnel and their families reside here and their children attend schools in South Farnborough. It is imperative that they are included in the community, as well as those residents who live on the Queen’s Gate Estate and Maitland Road. We must try not to develop a them & us attitude’ and strive towards ‘loving our neighbours as ourselves! Juliana is well known for her professionalism. She has served in Health Care for over 40 years, an active member of her Church where she is the local women’s president, Sunday School Teacher, and a member of the worship team. Juliana is a volunteer for the Alzheimer’s Society, a member of North Camp Matters Community Association and the Summer Fayre Committee. She is happily married to Ronald and has 3 sons. She enjoys visiting the extended family, singing, health & social care research, crosswords and cooking. Jeff Green, leader of the Christian Party commented She is a candidate of the highest integrity, approachable and trustworthy. With Juliana as your Councillor, you will have someone who truly cares about people. Her sole aim is to serve her constituents well and affect positive change in this area for all. We want to see local Councillors of her calibre in office up and down this nation again. Juliana once again surpassed herself once again and spent almost the entire day at the polling station. As always she used every opportunity to share biblical truths with those around her. Juliana is a credit to herself and the party and we look forward to the day she goes into office.
