RUSSIAN BEAR BAITED TO STRIKE, KHERSON UKRAINE IN RUSSIAN CROSS HAIRS. It has become a key focus of both the Ukrainian and Russian military. This week Kherson council threatened to sever water supplies to Crimea if Crimean citizens voted to succeed from Ukraine. The Crimean peninsula is completely dependent on Kherson for water, as well a being strategically important for Russia. If a Russian invasion takes place Kherson would be vital for the Russians to secure. Securing Kherson , Nikolaiv and Odessa allows a continuous land route from Russia to the break away pro Russian Transnitria region of Moldova, thus securing a large military buffer zone from Belarus south along the Dneiper river to Moldova. Russian forces are massing at the Northern aspect of Crimea. Ukrainian forces also appear to be moving large numbers of troops and materiel near Kherson possibly anticipating a Russian strike. Recently a large number of Sa-10 Grumble anti air assets were deployed by the Ukrainians near Kherson Ukraine. Dmytro Tymchuk, who heads the center for Military and Political Studies has been eyeing Russian troop movements. He said today that there is a very disturbing picture of Red Army forces assembling in the isthmus of Crimea, South of Kherson during the last 24 hours. Tymchuk said at least 500 Russian soldiers from a battalion from Chechnya, Russia and up to 25 Russian artillery units, equipped with armored personal carriers and Russian Tiger fighting vehicles, are currently dug in at Perekop, south of Kherson province, with a corresponding number near deployed to Chonhar. Ukraine is now completely surrounded by Russian troops on its Northern, Eastern and Southern borders with Russia. Attempts to negotiate a settlement to the crisis made no headway today between America and Russia. Mr. Lavrov said today Everybody realizes how important Crimea is to Russia, what Crimea means to Russia, he said. It means more to Russia than ... the Falklands to Britain. American Secretary of State John Kerry, reiterated American threats of reprisals if Crimea succeeds from Ukraine. Yesterday in Donetsk Ukraine many pro Ukrainian demonstrators were seriously injured and a young man was killed by Russian provocateurs. Russia threatened again today of military action to protect ethnic Russians in Ukraine. The threat of water supply disruptions by Kherson, coupled with continued unrest instigated by Mr. Putin, now baits the Russian to attack. Expect the red army to charge into Eastern and Southern Ukraine soon.
