Racing in Boulder in 1982 while my son, Rico, was incubating at the CU Medical School Hospital in Denver. This may have been one of my last races before I accepted a job with Nike and moved to Beaverton. In this race were multi-USA National Cross-Country team-member, Steve Flannigan (father of Shalane), Mike Buhman (6th in 1980 Olympic Trials 10,000m), and Pat Devany (CSU cross-country ace) among other Boulder running mainstays. The race started and finished near Fairview High School. This shot was taken at the finish running east away from the foothills. Mike Sandrock, author of Running Tough, won the 5-mile race. Clipping from Boulder Daily Camera, April, 1982.
