Radamel Falcao has confessed that Manchester United have “gambled” by signing him, and that he’s glad they’ve shown faith in his abilities. The Colombian ace’s deadline day loan switch to Old Trafford from Monaco stole all of the headlines, with the Red Devils paying big money despite his fitness issues. Falcao has missed the majority of 2014 due to an ACL injury, which saw his debut season in Ligue 1 cut short and his World Cup dreams dashed out But despite this, with Louis van Gaal desperate to get in big name players to spearhead a Champions League qualification push the 28-year-old was snapped up from under the noses of clubs such as Liverpool, Arsenal and Real Madrid. And now Falcao has revealed that he’s grateful that his new side saw fit to take a risk on him and that he’s keen to repay their belief: “Manchester United were the ones that gambled on me when it was very difficult to do so.” He is quoted by Goal. “It has been a very difficult year, not just in my professional career. “What happened at the start of the year [serious knee injury] affected me in every way, but it has also helped me grow as a human being, to think about many things, to mature.” Falcao went on to state that he’s ready to make his loan deal a permanent transfer: “In terms of my thoughts and plans for the future, I want to stay at Manchester United for the coming years.” #vF
