Radha Soami Ji Baba Ji’s Discourse Q&A 7/19/2014-7/20/2014 Fayetteville NC The first day of Baba Ji’s Satsang I was only able to only document a few notes. L Baba Ji said at one point, “just when I thought I had seen it all, you Satsangee’s come up with excuses to not have time for meditation/simran. Since you don’t come to see me in Beas, I have to come here to see you. No excuses, you must meditate two to two and a half hours per day. Two brothers that had kidney failure, said they could not perform mediation the proper way. Baba Ji said you can do it laying down, sitting up, any way as long as you do it. Then a young girl asked Baba Ji, she was quite ill, about some medication she was taking that contained animal by-products. Baba Ji said to find a substitution. In America everything is available, no meat, no meat by-products, MY WAY OR THE HIGHWAY. Another young girl asked Baba Ji why am I so depressed. Is it a chemical imbalance, or the sadness in the world, she asked. Baba Ji said it is because we have too many expectations. When they can’t be met, we get depressed. It is not chemicals in our brain, we need to meditate to calm our brain and find peace. One young girl said she is always thinking of Baba Ji and asking Baba Ji for things. Even when I can’t find a parking space, I ask for your help. Baba Ji, says, now I am a parking attendant. Do you use your umbrella when the sun is shining? No, you only use the umbrella when it rains. Only reach out to the master when it is for things that are important. You must rely on yourself for some things. If Baba Ji does everything for you, then what will you do? By doing meditation, we are cleansing our soul. For example, when there is red wine in a glass, the color is dark red. As you add water to the glass, the color becomes lighter and lighter, until it is almost completely clear. That is the same as your soul. The more you meditate, the more you cleanse your conscience and soul, which brings you closer to God’s grace. One lady asked Baba Ji, I want a private darshan/meeting, but I am unable to come see you because one of your sevadari will stop me. Baba Ji says, the sevadari has to reach me before he can stop you. Richard Gere went to Beas in India to meet with Baba Ji. One of the followers said that they were so confused, they did not whether to look at Richard Gere or Baba Ji. Baba Ji, said where should I look, and made a gesture with his finger as if watching a ping pong. He said you must look inside and find the answer. One gentleman asked Baba Ji about the Bollywood song, “Oh God, why did God create this earth and why are we on this earth”. Baba Ji, said now you have brought me down to the level of Bollywood. Next you will be asking me what did Amibath Bachan mean when he said this and what did Rajesh Khanna mean when he said that……Basically, God created this earth because he was bored and he put man on this earth to humor himself. Ha Ha, joke! Baba Ji says, when he first took his seat, he was expected to do certain things and follow certain rules. Sitting on the floor, covering his head, to give Satsang. He made changes to what he felt comfortable. It was right for him, but maybe wrong for others. The example he gives we wear turbans and cover our heads in temple and gurudwara, but in an American a church we take our hats off in respect. My right is your wrong and vice versa. If you take one step toward God, God will take 100 steps toward you. With some effort you will get his love and with love you will make more of an effort to get more love. Or with that love, you will make more of an effort to get more love, because we are not happy with a little, we want more. Don’t just use words, show by your actions: ACTIONS DO NOT NEED WORDS, AND WORDS HAVE NO ACTION Facing your fears, for example, if you get into a car accident, get right back into the car and face your fear. Baba Ji says he has had 12 accidents and he got right back into his car and is driving faster than ever. There are two kinds of fear, a positive and a negative fear. The negative fear scares you into compromising. The positive fear is the one where you don’t want to do anything to displease the one you love. It spurs you on to do better. Don’t fight with your fear, reach a point where is becomes irrelevant. Make it unimportant. Do not get consumed by your fear, beat it. One young man wanted to follow the path of Baba Ji, but his with is an atheist (no believe in God). She gets upset when he wants to come to satsang or follow the path. They fight quite often. Baba Ji says I guess she wears the pants in the family. The young man says no, but we fight about it. Baba Ji says, respect her feelings, but respect your feelings too. Do not have discord in your house. Work out a compromise. Another young man said he has been cheated by people, abused by people, everyone is trying to hurt him. Someone even tried to kill him. He wants to know why this is happening. He is very troubled and can’t take it anymore. Baba Ji says if God is with you, no one can hurt you, however, you must make the right choices. No one can kill you until it is your time to go. A husband and wife, were very distressed over losing their 18 year old son. He had no health issues and was a very good person. They asked Baba Ji why did God take him from us. Baba Ji said God takes the good ones first. Life and death are not in our hands. At some time we must go and be with the Lord. By blaming God, we are just being selfish, you just have to let our loved ones go and accept when it is their time. Notes from Sunday Morning Satsung In Santmat, masters come as living examples. We need to mold and reprogram ourselves toward the objectives we have set for our lives. Life is a reaction for most of us and a contradiction. On one hand we want to mold ourselves to be closer to God, but then we react to situations. We are going one step forward and two steps backward. God’s grace is always there for us. It is his gift to us. We lack the capacity to receptivity. We need to reach a level of maturity before we can handle what is given to us. We need spiritual maturity to cherish and value what we receive. Every thought and action takes us toward or away from the Lord. If our actions are negative, how can we talk of spirituality and be closer to Him. Maturity lies in seeing what is the right path, going forward. “DON’T SUPRESS OR FORCE YOUR MIND, CHANNELIZE YOUR THOUGHTS”. A kid asked a question, what do you do if you are being bullyied and abused? BJ says, don’t react. In reacting, we give the bully what he seeks. Be objective and come up with a logical conclusion. Exercise a sense of discretion before we react. Being living examples of a life of objectivity. Your master does not want worship. Your life must be a reflection of your meditation. Achieve that and your master will be happy because your master/guru is a living example of what our life should be. Don’t rely on the physical form of your master. Follow his example even when he is not in front of you. Soemone asked a questin on ego. Baba Ji said there is a difference between ego and self respect. Self respect is essential, otherwise it becomes self pity. Some ego is needed, practically, we need ego. We need to deal with it. We all have some responsibility. Basically, with ego comes responsibility and you need to know how to fulfill the responsibility. Parents asked about their 30 year old unmarried son. They were upset because he was not married and wanted to know when he would find a mate. Baba Ji asked, how do you know it won’t be worse if he gets married. Don’t stress over it. Things will happen when they are meant to be. A man asked for blessings and grace and began to cry. BJ says crying infront of the master is your emotion coming out. We all have grace from God. You must realize it, cherish it and be grateful for it. Live on meditation, every action has a reaction. Humans are calculative by nature. If you want you can use your master as a punching bag. You can think of him when you are about to react to a situation. A girl, says, Baba Ji when something good happens I thank you. When the bad happens I blame myself. Baba Ji says that is the opposite of what most people say. I will gladly take the credit for the good things for a change! Happiness/Sadness Two extremes of an emotion. Learn to balance the two, still waters run deep. Once we learn to balance our emotions, we will be brought to a state of tranquility. The mauj is the will and the pleasure of Satguru with the supreme being. Thy will be done…..stay in god’s will, understand his will and our role, and the difference between right and wrong and make the right decision. WE are restricted because we don’t understand god’s will. By reading we will get some understanding, but by experience we get more understanding. Once we understand this, we will realize there is no difference between us and the supreme being. Just like a ray of sunlight can’t exist without the sun, spirituality brings you the realization of the will of god. God knows what is best for every soul. When we question death, we should know that life and death is not in our hands. Our life is based on our Karma’s. Have faith in God because he knows best. He has given you this life to learn. At that point, the person asking the question, said your voice is so nice. Baba Ji replies, so is my face bad? One person admitted that he committed a lot of sins and was looking for redemption. BJ said never say sinful life. Don’t make mistakes of your past. Learn lessons from your past. Think and do positive things. God is holding onto our hands, we are not holding his. His is pulling the strings, we are not in control even though we think we are, he is. Baba Ji says shabd is the creative power. Keep doing simran and everything will work out. Your life starts like a blank page and you write your own story on it. We are always interested in knowing the when and why of our situation instead of understanding the situation. And to understand God we must reach his level first. A girl, as a child, saw a little baby that needed help. She wanted to help the baby, but her mother would not permit it because he was a beggar. She was so affected by it, that many years later in the mall, she saw a baby with bite marks all over his body. She went to the grandmother of the baby and asked what happened. The grandmother said the little cousin scratched him. The girl did not believe the grandmother and told her. The grandmother screamed at her to mind her own business. The girl got agitated and called 911. They took all the information, but do not do anything about the situation. She asked Baba Ji if she did the right thing because nothing got resolved. Baba Ji says to her, we should help where we can, but don’t create complications and don’t provoke the situation because that will disturb the other party and mostly you. It will also create a negative impression. You can help someone, but don’t accuse or threaten and use discretion before you react. Baba Ji says, whenever you are feeling negative or having negative thoughts, use the delete button, like on your computer. If you leave it on the screen saver, it will become part of your memory. Someone told Baba Ji that they have trouble concentrating when they are meditating. Don’t analyze it, just do it.“Don’t question the when or why, just do or die”, said Baba Ji. He says if you do everything with a good attitude, everything will fall into place. It will be easy. Faith can move mountains, that will see us through all kinds of hardships. Someone says, if I want to ask God for something, what should I ask for. Ask for something permanent, ask God for God, himself, because when we ask for material things, we are happy when we get them, but sad when we lose them. Why would you want to ask for things that will make you unhappy if they are lost. If you ask God for himself, you will never lose him. A girl asked Baba Ji, what happens if I eat a cookie with eggs by mistake? Baba Ji, said in a country like American, you should not make this mistake. Everything is labeled. Would you eat poison by accident, “Forget the cookie and don’t be a rookie”. There was a story, a girl had a step mother that was evil her entire life. She treated her family badly, in the end she got her naam from Baba Ji and a year later she died. Before dying, she said the master has come to take me, the girl was upset that after being an evil mother, that she was going with the master. Baba Ji said, the master has come to take her, but do you know where he is taking her? If she was good, her soul would be liberated, otherwise, she would be put back on the earth for another cycle. God will never leave you, good or bad, but where he takes you is up to your karmas. So have a goal for your life and walk on a path toward the goal. When we come to a spiritual path we start to review the choices of what we have done throughout our lives. First you are scared of death, but after awareness you are afraid of life. We need to find the realization that will take us to the spiritual path. Simplify your life, it is the easiest thing to do. Find the balance, and enjoy your life, but do not give up on your meditation. If you are happy and positive you can help others. Otherwise you will only spread negativity because you are negative. A drowning person can’t help anyone float to the top. The moment we take human birth, it is our destiny to join with our spiritual side, whether it is now or later. Someone asked a question about how to interpret their dreams. Baba Ji dreams comes from the subconscience mind. First make sense of your conscience mind, then you can make sense of the state of your dreams. Then Baba Ji speaks of free will and choice. We all have free will and choice if we are making our own decisions. We must also accept the responsibility and burden of that free will, as well. You must make wise choices. We must be accountable to God. You can’t run from your karmas, face your responsibility. Find the solution and focus on the positive so you can solve the issues. Sometime, to get the right solution you must give it time. When you are confused and don’t get the right answer, wait and be patient. Just leave it alone and the answer will come. Don’t complicate things, learning to let go is the biggest achievement. “ Just remember we are stuck onto problems, they are not stuck onto us.” Keep your minds busy, because empty minds are a devils workshop. But, have a balance, don’t let anything take your piece of mind away. “Success in life is not measured by how much money we make, but how well we solve our problems” “Keep meditating” Radha Soami
