It is a captivating purple, one that draws you in with its beguiling charm.” - Pantone Press Release I immediately loved Pantones Color of the Year for 2014. My clients joke that my wardrobe consists of only purple, navy, or gray. Green is my favorite color and I loved the Emerald shade chosen for last year, but I find purple much more wearable, for beauty as well as fashion. So, to celebrate the new color of the year I went through my make up stash and pulled out beauty products that met that blend of fuschia, purple, and pink and inspired joy and confidence. I will be talking about these items going clockwise from the bottom left. Maybelline Color Whisper in Mad for Magenta - I am a big fan of the Maybelline Color Whispers and this particular shade is a favorite of mine. It is a true magenta shade and I cant wait to wear it more this spring. LOreal Wet Shine Stain in Stubborn Plum - I also did a review of these and love the staying power of the stain that is left behind. These have the usual LOreal bad taste, but I can forgive that for the beautiful purple magenta stain it leaves behind. LOreal Infallible Eye Shadow in Burtst Into Bloom - The eye shadow that started this post. I picked this up last month on a particularly cold day because the color looks so bright and vibrant and Spring. After bringing it home and swatching it reminded me so much of the Radiant Orchid Color of the Year that I went through my makeup looking for similar shades. I love to use this in the crease to brighten up a neutral eye. LOreal LaLaque in Laquer-Ized - This is limited edition, but it is a fantastic, vibrant, pink fuschia lip pencil that feels so so good on the lips. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Darling - This is tied for my favorite Balm Stain shade (tied with Honey) and it is a beautiful purple color. I dont find these drying and I really love the stain they leave behind. Tarte Amazonian Clay 12Hr Blush in Flush - I have done a full review of this shade but it is a dead on match for the Radiant Orchid color. It does just what the name suggests, gives the cheeks a beautiful flush. Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Provocative - Another product I have done a full review of. This doesnt act ually impart any color to the lips, but the product itself is a pretty darn good match to the color of the year. Maybelline Limited Edition Lipstick in Violet Intrigue - This is a limited edition shade released by Maybelline this past fall and it definitely leans more to the purple side of the color spectrum. I do like to wear this blotted on the lips for a violet stained look. Maybelline Vivids Lipstick in Hot Plum - This is a great fuschia shade that I cant wait to get more use out of this spring. I really like the formula of the maybelline lipsticks. Wet n Wild Wild Shine Nail Color in Who Is Ultra Violet? - The last product I have is a nail polish that is pretty much an identical match to the Radiant Orchid shade. The formula of this polish is also fantastic; applies evenly and doesnt chip. What makeup do you have in your collection that matches the Color of the Year?
