@RahielT: Landed to the news of no indictment in John Crawfords - TopicsExpress

@RahielT: Landed to the news of no indictment in John Crawfords murder by police officers in Ohio. In that moment of disgust and anger, I tweeted this: People protest: mocked, tear gassed and arrested. Take it to the courts: verdicts dehumanize. Fight for legislation: racial bias prevails. Eric Holder has a serious task on his hands. Hes in office for such a time as this. Prove to the American people that the DOJ is at work. Clearly these jurors and judges dont see the value in black humanity. Whats an America that elected Obama in the face of these verdicts? These race-driven murders and subsequent verdicts will stir a modern, new form of black rage if this country isnt careful. Justice keeps being deferred. Where do those hopes go? What builds up and what dies as people wait? And when strategies fail, new ones arise. How is one to feel when their family member, lover, friend is rendered insignificant and disposable culturally and legally? With that, there is still value in modern black power thought. Seeing black love, self-determination and solidarity as forms of resistance. We shy away from black power rhetoric in public. Its taboo and perceived as anti-intellectual by many. But we must collectively, boldly honor blackness. I am angry, as we all should be. At times like this, I take inventory of my life to make sure I am doing my part. Are you doing yours? Black millennials. Educated negroes. Church folks. We have to get our priorities in order. Save ratchetness and/or self-righteousness for another day.
