***Rainy, cool and overcast conditions to dominate the region Sunday*** Hope everyone has enjoyed their Saturday, temps are in the low 50s as we approach the 5 pm hour... Some high cirrus clouds are starting to enter the region, that a result of our next storm system that will be developing along the Gulf Coast Region and cut up into the Lower Mississippi River Valley. Winds will begin to shift out of the south very soon and by tomorrow morning, precipitation will be approaching the area. Latest short range model data is showing an area of showers moving northward into Burke County by morning with a break then expected during the afternoon hours. That will be followed by the main event as our low pressure will push a front through the region. The second round of activity should peak around the mid evening hours and last until just after midnight. With all of this going on temps will drop to around 40 tonight and will remain firm tomorrow as there will be a hybrid cold-air damming in place due to the warmer moist air riding over the top of the cold pool at the surface. As we get into the overnight hours of Sunday into Monday, temps will remain stubborn in the 40s but temps could slowly rise through the night as the warm air tries to win out. Of course, we all know the tendency of CAD events in this part of the country and now they hold together the closer you are to the Blue Ridge. Also, for the second time in as many weeks...it looks like a good soaking rain will result from this...pretty much everyone should see .75 with some localized areas receiving as much as 1.5 inches.
