Ralph Baer, the father of video games, passed away on Saturday, - TopicsExpress

Ralph Baer, the father of video games, passed away on Saturday, December 6th, 2014. He was 92 years old. I would like to take a second to honor the man responsible for the industry that has brought joy to many. The video game industry has grown immensely in the years since he created the Magnavox Oddysey. Video games were once viewed as being nothing more than expensive toys hooked up to a television set. They were just considered a passing fad. Now the video game industry has evolved into something more. Video games bring joy and entertainment to many. They can tell the simplest story, or the most complex story. The characters in modern video games can inspire others to become better people, but, most importantly, video games have helped deepen friendships, and even create new relationships with people youve never met in real life, and its all thanks to Ralph Baer, and the Magnavox Oddyssey. Thank you, Ralph Baer, and may you rest in peace. Game Over.
