He has donned many different avatars and experimented with every genre from comedy, romantic to serious. Yes, serious! Might he have not done many film of this genre, the ones that he has done have been exceptional! His first venture in this genre was with the multi-starrer hit “Rajneeti”. This film also stars Ajay Devgan, Nana Patekar, Arjun Rampal, Manoj Bajpayee, Katrina Kaif and Naseeruddin Shah. Despite some controversies about resemblance to real life people this film was released and declared a box-office hit. Ranbir plays the character of an MP’s son with utmost ease. As if he really was one. His curt mannerism and stern behavior leaves everyone by surprise. This brought out a new Ranbir Kapoor on screen, for no one before imagined Ranbir in a serious role. Ranbir in Rajneeti playing a politician… His next film in this genre was the block bluster “Rockstar”. This was the film that established Ranbir Kapoor as an actor. He does complete justice to the role of a troubled singer. He emotes extremely well even without emoting, something which only a thorough professional can do. This film starts on a very light and humorous note and ends in tragedy with Ranbir Kapoor making the audience laugh in the beginning and cry in the end. He got into the character and boy he did a fantastic job. His entire look was changed and his long hair just adds more depth to the character! For this film he also won the filmfare award for best actor both critics and popular choice! Ranbir playing a troubled singer in “Rockstar”… Well serious or not serious, single or not single Ranbir Kapoor never fails to leave his mark. It could be his genes, or some magic, whatever it is he is one of the best actors we have got!
