Rand Paul introduced today some legislation that would require - TopicsExpress

Rand Paul introduced today some legislation that would require three things. First, it would require that bills introduced in congress be authored by the representative or senator who introduced it. Second, the proposed bills after these pass would be limited to one subject at a time. Third, and this might be the one that actually passes and really change things, is that every member of congress would be legally required to read every word of the proposed bills before making a decision. I dont think that making it to where congress members will be forced to write every bill they introduce will be a good idea, nor will it pass. To be honest, congress is really lazy. They do as little work as they can get away with, and will delegate responsibility whenever possible. Which isnt a big deal, but forcing them to write every bill they introduce will really limit how people can actually interact with the legislative process. I dont support the idea of a single subject at a time sort of bill, but maybe 3 or 4 limitation instead of dozens of subjects per bill. This forces potentially harmful policies into legislation with little discussion. What do you folks think? paul.senate.gov/?p=press_release&id=1027 - Drew
