Random Musings of an Energywatcher : The traffic cop looked - TopicsExpress

Random Musings of an Energywatcher : The traffic cop looked sharp, his sun-glasses hiding his razor-sharp glares, as he kept a watch for that intrepid traffic violator. He was managing a six lane traffic signal all alone, standing right in the middle of the junction waving his hands and blowing his whistle. His heavy white uniform was drenched in sweat. His flimsy cap didnt play much of a role in shielding him from the harsh noon sun. Its an eight-hour job, with probably 2-3 breaks. Still, it would involve standing for 2 hours continuously, with unflinching concentration. He must be having a family to feed. What kind of work-life balance does he enjoy? Does he get skin ailments? Does he apply sunscreen lotion? Would he have even heard of something like this? If I tell him that, would he guffaw and dismiss me? His Vitamin-D levels must be good - he gets a lot of sun after all. If he is managing traffic and traffic offenders, does he make for a good manager despite not going to a b-school? Will I be able to do his job even for a day? Should I be grateful to him and his ilk for keeping my city going? Should the odd unfair traffic fine disturb that feeling of mine? Can I make his life better by acknowledging his work? Will it make him look forward to his work and do it better? Would it be an interesting energy exercise to try out, to know if genuine appreciation can heal human weakness? hmm, possibly.
