Random small business idea: a boutique manufacturer that specializes in high-quality (printed on plastic) reproductions of the various old-school calculators. For example, I have one in cardboard that solves for pipe flow given various variables, has two dials that spin around. Others calculated exposures for photography, there were silly ones that calculated mileage, insurance adjusting, etc. But many of the engineering and special-purpose ones are still much faster and easier for design that computer programs, and provide a very tangle experience to the user. This diverges from most of my other random business ideas, in that they are typically just becoming reseller for things that are not readily available, but that I expect would sell well on the ebay, etc., markets. This would require manufacturing, a little graphic design, etc. But the manufacturing is dead simple these days, Id think.
