Random thoughts from Day #3.... 1 - Another 350 miles or so (1335 total) and everyones still hanging in there reasonably well. We had our first stress breakdown just before lunch, but I think that was more everyone being hungry than getting stir-crazy. 2 - Any day that starts with dinosaurs has a high probability of being a good day. 3 - After two days in mostly emptiness, today had plenty of rural but no empty. The difference is subtle, but profound. 4 - Eau Claire, WI is not as nice as Jamestown, ND. 5 - The dining area at the McDonalds in the Dells is preposterously huge and looks like a hunting lodge. I understand the reference, but even if it was possible for cheesy historical pastiche to be a good idea, it is always a bad idea when youre talking about McDonalds. 6 - Arriving at our hotel in Milwaukee to be greeted by a super-friendly valet with some great recommendations for local places to visit while were here was a great way to welcome in our day off from driving.
