Ranger/naturalist Charity: I hiked out to Egg Island, which is now - TopicsExpress

Ranger/naturalist Charity: I hiked out to Egg Island, which is now a peninsula with the low water levels. It is west of Lady Finger Point. It is a favorite nesting spot for California gulls. It was cool to see all of the old nests scattered throughout the rocks. There are bird bones everywhere. It seems like a pretty harsh home. I was surprised at how much trash I saw in the island. I wonder if the gulls picked it up and brought it to the island. I find that preferable to the alternative of people leaving trash there. Remember to not go there during the nesting season which ended Sept 1st.
