Rant: A day early. October 23, 1923 my father was born. Sadly due to unfortunate circumstances on July 30, 1998 he past away at the age of 74. He was a rough tough hard working fellow who would always try to do things his way. Most of the time he was a soft spoken gentle man yet if needed he would make sure that he would be heard. If nothing else he had a undeniable passion for sports, especially baseball and bowling. In his youth he was well on his way to becoming a professional ball player but for reasons unknown he choose to join the Canadian Armed Services. After a short time oversea he returned home with a serious war injury. His dreams of a career in baseball had been shattered by one lone sniper. Bowling did for this man what he couldnt ever do again for baseball. His passion for bowling allowed him to become one of the most outstanding 5 Pin bowlers in Ontario. Because of his love for the sport he helped bring organized youth bowling to Niagara Falls. In his later years and with the increase in the popularity of 10 pin bowling he switched games. His love for the bowling always remained close to his heart and he managed to stay a true champion until he bowled his last game. To this day we have one one his bowling balls that still sits where we put it many years ago. In our front garden. As we sit here many years later we still have many unanswered questions about this mans life and how he had past away. Maybe, God willing someday we will be able to at least partly understand why things happened the way that they did. October 23, 2013 Egidio (Gid) O. Costa would have been 90 yrs old. Yesterday, today or tomorrow, “We will always welcome your visits!”
