Rant Time ... Time is drawing near to when advertising takes over a beloved holiday. As you head out this coming weekend ... and unfortunately today. Remember there is a difference between those items you want and those you truly need. Remember that the individuals you encounter are, more then likely, working because they need to. That smile you may not offer or those gruff words are directed at an individual who is working to survive. Minimum wage sucks. But because they chose to work over receive assistance, they need to be there. They are working as hard as they can. Humans can only work as fast as the computers sometimes. And while you may blame the cashier for the speed of the line, remember that the individual on the other side of the counter affects the speed also. Please take time to pass on a kind word to those behind the register. They may not have a choice as to weather or not they had to work this crazy day. Many companies have strict rules about time off between Thanksgiving Eve and New Years. It could cost a job to refuse to work a day that will bring in the lions share of a businesses income. Families first ... right? And ... if you do choose to be one of those individuals who are impolite to the cashiers/workers during this insane consumer driven season ... remember that we will be sharing your story over drinks when it is all over! Yes ... while you might stress us to the max and be as impolite as humanly possible, we will laugh at you later. Sorry ... but with 4 individuals who work retail in the family we have enough stories to go around. the story usually ends with the line ... It was just a .... you can fill in the blank. Remember ... while you may want that item ... it still is just a want. The world/your life more then likely will not end without that new TV. Take a breath and pass on a smile or nice word ... take time to be the other story we talk about. Rant Over ... sorry ...
