/Rant To start off I am going to say that I have logged in for the launch day of two previous expansions and this is my worst experience by far. For my server and others in the high capacity, It feels like were being penalized for deciding to play on a server with a lot of people. This even extends to multiple hour wait-times on medium and low servers. Its the first day so obviously its not going to be entirely smooth, due to tons of people trying to play; yet servers with an alleged capacity the size of Area 52 for example (approximately 27k players) have become unplayable. Its not necessarily anyones fault, but it is still extremely shitty and subpar in comparison to previous launches by a company that has been doing this for 10 years. I understand how much work goes into anything of this size and quality. Blizzard doesnt usually disappoint. But that doesnt change the fact that in comparison to just about every past expansion, even the one with the peak number of subscribers - Wrath of The Lich King at 14 million, even if for a short period - it was never unplayable. Not like this. I wish the game would run better, but I also wish it would run at all. Moments like this are when you question choices like letting a server have this many people to begin with. I just hope that once the first few days of launch go by that something concrete is invested into the idea of fixing the issue. At least let us transfer servers. Thatd be cool. The way I see it: after 10 years, 4 expansions, and a drop in subscribers they should have it figured out. Whether there are limitless development variables or not the very existence of this situation is unprofessional. Looking at it from the point of view of anyone who has been here before or with the weight of Blizzard’s experience in this exact type of launch, its ludicrous. Im comparing Blizzard, right now, to their past performance as everyone should be and in this case any amount of feasibility and professionalism is really lacking. Badly. What they do to fix it or what effort goes into fixing it isnt even necessarily relevant because this is far from Blizzard’s first major release of anything and its not their first World of Warcraft expansion, and its a fact that the subscriber numbers overall are a fraction of what they were when WoTLK launched. So take that how you want. If this was quite literally any other company, I would have very different feelings about it. For some people the game isnt reasonably playable and with that happening it honestly doesnt matter to a gamer, a consumer, or to me what the actual problem is because I cant log in to tell you what does and doesnt work. And when I could there was a lot that didnt work properly. You can tell that they have tried to implement quite a few things, and these things include past efforts like instancing people out of zones, but its not working at all. Blizzard is making themselves look like a bunch of fools in regards to something they should have a pretty damn good understanding of at this point, because this expansion is starting off with Blizzard in a position that anyone ignorant to their experience would call out of their depth. They will apologize and I will be happy to play it when I can actually play it, but that doesnt mean I dont have a right to be upset or that I am wrong in being upset for the reason I am. GG Blizzard.
