Rant of the Day Just because the Kansas City Chiefs lost to the Denver Broncos, some “geniuses” will state learnedly that they were exposed as a team that beats only weak teams. This view has a few serious flaws. The game was played in Denver. In close games the home team prevails more often than the visitor. Moreover, the result of a particular game does not always reliably indicate the relative strengths of the contestants. Many sports fans know that the 1940 Chicago Bears scored the most points in a championship game when they beat the Washington Redskins 73-0. Fewer people know that three weeks earlier, the Redskins had beaten the Bears 7-3. The Chiefs only lost to the Broncos. They did not become a second rate team.
