Rant of the month. Weve had TMC on individual health insurance with BCBS-KC since he was horn. Individual direct plans have always been far cheaper (25% or less the cost of dependent coverage thru employer-same coverage). Every year there has been a modest increase...less than $5 or so per month. This year, the premium is just over $100 a month. Now...the renewal letter came for 2015. Premiums skyrocketed to almost $225 per month. DOUBLE. I compared to my work insurance and that would cost me about $250 for one child. Makes my blood boil. Need to rename Affordable Health Care and drop the affordable word. Dont get me wrong, I am all for people being able to get coverage but I am not OK with insurance companies and providers posting record profits. Kind of like gas/oil companies. Making me crazy. Soapbox dismantled.
