Rant of the week – then I’m done . . . I promise: All Im really sure about in the most recent Ferguson shooting incident is that two lives are ruined. The first, because he is dead and another because he pulled the trigger. Many other lives will be adversely affected: the victims family, the officers family. Tragedy on both sides. As to who was at fault??? - Id like to have some unedited answers. The media (and I mean on BOTH sides of the isle) are no longer interested in facts or truth - they are in the business of ratings . . . which means ‘inflame any situation as best you can’. We are all suckers for falling for it. Shame on those of you who call yourselves journalists but are really Opinion Peddlers. Just sent much of this to a dear friend of mine - lets rally against ALL MEDIA when they try to impose their inflammatory and unsolicited opinions on us. I want NEWS - does anyone remember what that is??? Whatever the truth turns out to be . . . and Im not entirely certain we will ever know what the truth is (in this life) as pertaining to the most recent Ferguson case . . . too many lives have been adversely affected. It’s tragic no matter who is right. In the meantime - let’s not fall for the garbage the media are trying to peddle to and on us (NBC, CBS, ABC, MSNBC, FOX, and all other opinion peddlers) - why dont we insist on just the facts . . . pure, un-inflamed, unedited, without commentary, speculation, or opinion. But that just MY opinion. In the meantime – I’m not quite ready to take a side about this shooting. The enclosed video is not an attempt to influence anyone, to defend an officer, or someone who has been adversely impacted by the decision of an officer – only to show that even with an explicit video like the one attached to this message . . . it is VERY difficult if not impossible to sort out whether or not someone made the right call. In the enclosed video . . . what you can’t see is the young man reaching for his gun with his right hand while laying down his rifle with his left. All we see in the video is a young man apparently surrendering. Had the 2nd officer (blinded to the victim) not been there to see the handgun and shout ‘gun’ before firing lethal rounds . . . the story could have had a very different outcome. . . . just saying – the media feeds us what they want us to see and believe. Imagine if FOX, CBS, NBC, ABC, or especially MSNBC were to have added their commentary to this video. What would they have said??? I don’t think any of them would have got it right . . . but a certain % of us would have bought into their rhetoric and hype. I’m sure this post won’t influence anyone that can’t live without their daily dose of speculation.
